Timothy Wolf
Outside of opening hours, and in the depths of winter in Naarm, singer-songwriter Timothy Wolf elegantly graced the stage of Bodriggy to perform his debut single, In Your Arms Again. Surrounded by his nine-piece band The Howlers, this baked session relays the story of an ode to long term love.
Starting things off slow and steady, Timothy’s eloquent vocals begin the track which appears ageless in every sense. Adorned with brass arrangements, backing vocalists, and classic piano melodies, In Your Arms Again is rooted deep in the trunks of blues and soul. Timothy’s standout falsetto vocals gently glide across the dimly lit venue, as he sings, “I would give it all for you to be my girl, baby I would give it all just for you”. Swirling electric guitars soon follow, complementing his words of passion.
Growing up listening to the likes of Otis Redding and Etta James, it’s clear from the steady horn adaptations that these artists have influenced Timothy’s songwriting to his benefit. The venue is alight with chandeliers embellished with candles, which seems only fitting for this endearing rendition of In Your Arms Again. There’s ample room in this warehouse-like setting for Timothy’s words to be felt with tender love and care. It’s a colourful debut track, akin to his technicolour dreamcoat which is draped across him.
Interestingly, this song was recorded in the tropical oasis of Byron Bay at Bernard Fanning and Nick DiDia’s revered La Cueva Studios, where the requisite amount of care and compassion has been taken in order to compose such a multi-dimensional song. Suffice to say Timothy Wolf has a glimmering path ahead of him, with a wealth of musical talent supporting him for every step of the way.
